Hospital Records proudly presents brand new music from all-star label mainstay Nu:Tone, the first solo release since his seminal ‘Future History’ album in 2014 which included timeless classics such as ‘Tides (feat. Lea Lea)’ and ‘’Til Dawn’. An artist of the highest calibre who has paved a rich history in the world of dance music, ‘Sweeter’ and ‘Do It Right’ showcase Nu:Tone’s pioneering approach to drum & bass as he brings his renowned liquid loungecore sound into 2020. With his latest solo venture now out the bag, Nu:Tone marks the start of an exciting chapter with a lot more new music to follow.
‘Sweeter’ is a soulful and heartfelt cut which features the impassioned vocals of London-based singer and songwriter Maiday. Tender strings and delicate toplines play hopeful melodies which float elegantly above carefully crafted breakbeats, laying the groundwork for this beautifully uplifting liquid anthem.
‘Do It Right’ is a nostalgic roller infused with reminiscent sounds of the old-school. Rave inspired pads, energising vocal chops and a signature Nu:Tone bassline with infectious groove melt together into a textbook classic drum & bass sensation.
Since signing to Hospital Records in 2003, Nu:Tone’s contribution to drum & bass has been highly commendable. From his debut album ‘Brave Nu World’ in 2005 to new-wave anthems such as ‘Everlasting Days (feat. Lifford)’ produced alongside his brother and fellow label legend Logistics. Nu:Tone’s music has welcomed support from an array of legends like LTJ Bukem, Annie Mac, Andy C, High Contrast, Sigma, Sub Focus, Norman Jay, Marcus Intalex, Bryan Gee, DJ Marky, and Laurent Garnier to name a few. Demonstrating his invaluable tastemaking ability, Nu:Tone has been at the forefront of guiding and bringing through the next generation of artists. From his instrumental role in bringing together the legendary Future Sound Of Cambridge releases with Logistics and Commix over a decade ago, to more recently being a treasured member of the Hospital A&R team, rest assured Nu:Tone’s instinct to spot top shelf music is reflected in his own productions.
“After my last album ‘Future History’, I joined the A&R team at Hospital and set up my mixing and mastering business NTMastering. I love working with artists, enabling them to make their ideas into a reality and using my skills to help other people. My own music took a bit of a backseat, but when the time felt right, I started working on this new project. It’s been great writing again and I can’t wait to share it.” - Nu:Tone
