ItÕs lucky number 7 with the next release from Med School and this one is twice as nice because itÕs the first double pack to be released on the label. Brimming with exciting new talent, ÒNew BloodÓ manages to bridge the Atlantic, delve into the Eurozone and nurture some homegrown in one fell swoop. The outcome is a fine compilation of robust bassline choppage.
GermanyÕs own Martsman kick starts the EP with blistering efficiency, ÒWorst Case ScenarioÓ hits hard with rasping synth sounds and punching spliced-up beats. Get readyÉ this is just a taste of MartsmanÔs bit-crushed genius. Expect a solo 12_ soon.
Flipping the script, Infiltrata serves up ÒPsalm 24_, a rumbling roller straight from the West coast of the USA. Vocal stabs perforate an audio frenzy as the low end and kick drum hits you in the midriff like a gridiron tackle.
The second plate lands us firmly back in the UK in the capable hands of two brand new producers. Armed exclusively with a Windows 98 computer bearing a meagre 256Mb of RAM, Minotaur proves that less is most definitely more, and delivers some damaging darkness straight from the labyrinth with ÒWorlds BeyondÓ.
Last but by no means least, Randomer and the REDS collective draw ÒNew BloodÓ to a deep conclusion with industrial tremors. ÒAutonomyÓ boasts the sort of suspense filled intro Hitchcock would be proud of; this one is moody and downright dirty, with a splattering of thinking manÕs wobble.
