Hospital Accapellas is out this week and in conjunction with the Hospital Podcast, we have a competition for all our creative fans out there. We want you to take one of our accapellas and do something creative with it - mash it up with a classic pop record, do a dj mix, Create a whole new backing track for the vocal or use a vocal sample to create a track in your own style - We will leave the ideas to you. Edgar at NHS HQ had a go at earlier, mashing up "Welcome to Blackboard Jungle" by King Tubby with Do You Believe by London Elektricity. Check it out here for some inspiration.
When you have finished, simply upload to Yousendit, Sendspace, or your favourite file uploading service and email your MP3 over to podcast@hospitalrecords.com with 'Accapella competition' in the tile. Our favourites will be played on the podcast and one overall winner will win all of our Hospital sample packs- a gold mine of samples worth well over £150. Here you will find sample packs, info and tutorials from our artists. We have now had sample packs fromNu:Tone, Danny Byrd, Syncopix and Mistabishi, bringing an amazing selection of samples from some of the most talented producers in the game. We also brought you drummer KJ Sawka with his simply astounding collection of loops, breaks and fills, but now it's time for the Minimal genius of Bop.
One of the huge success stories of the last year in drum and bass has been the emergence of Russian minimalist "Bop". His beautiful debut album "Clear Your Mind" on Medschool gained worldwide recognition and much support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Rob Da Bank and Chris Coco. It was widely acknowledged as one of the finest pieces of underground dance music in 2009. Bop's minimal, elegant, but also amazingly complex production gained support across the board, making its way onto sound-systems everywhere from Fabric in London to Cafe Del Mar, Ibiza.
Arguably representing a whole new movement in D+B and dubstep you'll be delighted to know that Bop has put some of his finest beats, blips and lush synths into the latest loopmasters sample pack.
Featuring many unique sounds and breaks from Bop's "Clear your mind" album, this minimal drum and bass sample pack represents a fantastic starting point for anyone looking to make intelligent and beautiful electronic music. With ideas and sounds that seem to come from far from this world, it really is a cosmos of samples just ready to get working with.
