Originally conceived in 2001 as a one-off giveaway mix for our opening Hospitality clubnight, d+b guru Rico from SRD, convinced the board of governors to put the mastertapes on our catalogue and do it properly.

Now it's become an annual outing, cheering up the fan base every January, coming in at a bargain £5 in the shops. Showcasing forthcoming music, singles and album projects from the Hospital crew, each release also selects highlights from the previous years' output. A top quality compilation, mixed as always by Hospital's top quality DJs.

Hospital's "Future Sound Of" series continues to go from strength to strength, reporting back from our own correspondents in outposts all over the globe.

Having brought you the pastoral English sounds of the Future Sound of Cambridge, and gone deep into central Europe into Hungary for the Future Sound of Budapest, recently we've gone next level to bring you the full length Future Sound of Tokyo and Future Sound of Cambridge 3 albums. The latest coup is the Future Sound of Russia EP, showcasing some of the cream of the current crop of D+B to come out of the largest country on the planet.

Often a true sign of an artist's pedigree is when the b-sides or tracks that were left out are uncovered. Many musicians have them locked away as they hide from the shame, however when it comes to the Hospital vaults there were so many killer unreleased tracks and remixes we decided to bring them through digitally, "Medical History" was born...

"All I could think of was getting back into the Jungle" - Captain Willard - Apocalypse Now

Tactical strikes from Hospital beginning in 2004, then again in 2005 saw the awesome "Weapons of Mass Creation" series develop into a run away success. Total Science, John B & Syncopix all featured in the early assaults. 2007 saw shock and awe tactics as big guns Blame, Apex & Blu-Mar-Ten also brought through tracks to the compilation series. 2008 saw the release of the Friendly Fire EP as Hospital bravely continues to keep it's head well above the parapet.

Plastic Surgery ran until 2003 featuring both unknown producers, as well as the D&B elite. Only the choicest cuts make their way onto the album - irrespective of where they're from - It was all about the quality.

Plastic Surgery has showcased some diverse styles, with standout surgical selections coming from High Contrast ("Suddenly"), the X-Ploding Plastix ("Treat Me Mean, I Need The Reputation") and Zed Bias' debut d+b cut ("Something About This"). With some awesome tracks this is essential listening. Still sounding fresh this series will help you witness how the Hospital D+B sound developed.

Established in 2000 after remix swaps with Mr Scruff and Aquasky gave us two tunes without a home, the OP theme has blossomed into three chapters of mighty-fine freestyle flavours. The compilations incorporate everything from deep house to downbeat folky-soul, from bleepy-funk to latin-breaks, and dubstep garage to modal future jazz.

Volume One stretched as far as some d+b exclusives; number Two hit a distinctly mo' jazz flavour, whilst 2003's 3rd chapter had a strong Scandinavian edge, coupled with some FWD>thinking breakstep! The main criteria here is 'alternative'...
